Department of Toxicology and Sanitary Analysis
Department of Toxicology and Sanitary Analysis, School of Public Health, Xi’an Jiaotong University was founded in June 2014 through the merger of the teaching and research divisions of toxicology, sanitary microbiology and sanitary chemistry. Now there are three faculty members in the department including two associate professors and one lectures, one PhD supervisors and two masters, all with doctorates.
Teaching and Students Cultivation
The department undertakes the theoretical and experimental teaching work of three professional foundation courses including Toxicology, Sanitary Chemistry and Sanitary Microbiology for preventive medicine undergraduate students. Teachers are authorized to recruit master, doctor and master of public health (MPH) students. Several graduate students have obtained Master’s degree in this department. The graduates found jobs in toxicology laboratories, hospital laboratories, colleges and universities, health and disease control centers, and so on.
Scientific Research
In recent years, teachers host and participated in 15 research programs, such as one National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, one National Key R&D Program of China, two General Programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China, two programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China and three provincial research projects. More than 100 papers were published and there were over 60 SCI papers among them. One invention patent was authorized. Additionally, one first prize of Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Award in higher institution and one second prize of Shaanxi Province Science and Technology Award were obtained.
The major research fields of the department are plasma antitumor, gene regulation of tumors, novel sanitary analysis methods.
Social Services
Teachers in this department have served on many social services and participated in important academic activities at home and abroad. They have been members of Chinese Society of Toxicology, Chinese Environmental Mutagen Society, Chinese Nutrition Society and Chinese Society of Immunology. Additionally, they participate in the communication evaluation of national natural science foundations and act as reviewers for multiple journals.
